Land Use Planning Overview Extended Description

The chart shows a cycle with four interconnected boxes. From the top and counterclockwise, each box contain the following text:

  1. The provincial government (ministries) sets the provincial planning policy and the laws that OMB follows when making its decisions.
  2. Municipalities are responsible for determining the future development of their communities through the preparation of official plans, zoning by-laws and other planning tools.
  3. You can appeal to the Ontario Municipal Board if you disagree with a decision made at the municipal level.
  4. If you disagree with a decision made by the OMB, you can appeal to the Divisional Court.
