ELTO is pleased to announce Michel Bellemare and Stefan Krzeczunowicz as our two newly appointed members to the Ontario Municipal Board.
Michel Bellemare was called to the bar in Ontario in 1994. He holds both a law degree and a Bachelor of Social Sciences in political science and management and public policy from the University of Ottawa. Fluently bilingual, he served as a municipal chief administrative officer and a special advisor with Canada’s Immigration and Refugee Board. He was also elected five times, serving his community as an Ottawa city councillor for ten years, and as an Ottawa-Carleton regional councillor for six years. He served as well as a member of the Ottawa Police Services Board, the Ottawa Public Library, and the Children’s Aid Society of Ottawa-Carleton.
Stefan Krzeczunowicz is an Ontario Professional Land Economist. From 2004 to 2016 he worked for a leading consulting firm in Toronto, developing expertise in municipal finance, land use planning, and growth management. After receiving a Bachelor of Arts from McGill University, Mr. Krzeczunowicz conducted Ph.D. research in Ireland on seventeenth century economic, social, and political history, with a particular emphasis on English migration to Ireland. He has lectured on municipal finance matters at the undergraduate level. Mr. Krzeczunowicz is a member of the Simcoe Chapter of LAI International, an honorary society for the advancement of land economics.
